DOTHAN, Ala. — The Wallace Community College golf team is underway at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Highland Oaks in Dothan, hosting an 11-team field from four southeastern states for a two-day tournament on one of the Wiregrass area's premier courses.

Following heavy rain throughout Sunday and into the early morning hours today, tournament officials began play at 9:30 a.m. as players took to the course for the opening round.

The field features teams from Alabama and three other states across the Southeast, including seven teams from the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC). The tournament gives Wallace Community College an opportunity to compete at home while welcoming collegiate golf programs from throughout the region.

The Govs enter the tournament ranked No. 8 in the country in a preliminary, unofficial ranking by The Differential, adding to the expectations surrounding the Wallace Community College program as it takes on a strong regional field.

Wet conditions have played a role early in the tournament, challenging players to navigate a course that is playing differently following the significant rainfall. As conditions improve, the field will continue competing over two days for team and individual honors.

Wallace Community College will look to use its familiarity with Highland Oaks to its advantage as the Govs compete for a strong finish against the regional field.

Fans can follow live tournament scoring throughout the event at the tournament's official scoreboard:
