Lake City, FL - The Wallace Governors Men's and Women's Cross Country teams continued their season on October 16, competing in the Florida Gateway College Timberwolves Invitational in Lake City, Florida. Both squads turned in encouraging performances, with nearly every runner improving on their previous times as the Governors continue to build momentum heading into the postseason.

Leading the way for the men was Eric Baker, who finished 22nd overall in the Men's 8,000-meter Run with a time of 31:24.70. Baker's performance paced the Governors in a competitive field and highlighted another solid outing for the Wallace men.

On the women's side, Madison McCloskey led the Governors in the Women's 5,000-meter Run, finishing with a time of 26:54.00 to place 57th overall. McCloskey competed in a large group of runners, navigating a crowded field while leading Wallace's women in the event.

Beyond the individual results, the biggest takeaway from the meet was the continued progress across both rosters. With nearly all of Wallace's runners improving on their times, the Timberwolves Invitational provided a positive indication of the teams' development and preparation as the season approaches its most important stretch.

The Governors will now turn their attention to the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC) State Cross Country Championships on October 30 in Huntsville, Alabama.
