Diamond Dolls support athletic programs with goodie bags

For a long time, the Wallace athletic programs had a support group called the Diamond Dolls. Then it went it way. Now it's back.

"This is now the second spring semester that we brought the Diamond Dolls back," said Mandy Sessions, advisor of the group. "Last year it was a small group. This year we have approximately 10 members, both boys and girls, We're looking to grow even larger. We're actively seeking others to join us."

The Diamond Dolls exist to show encouragement and support for the baseball and softball programs at Wallace.

"The biggest thing we do is stuff the goodie bags and provide them to the players," Sessions said. "The players loved the bags last year and now they look forward to it. We get together and try to provide them for most away games for boys and girls. It has snacks and chips and candy. Sometimes we add Chapstick, sometimes we get Gatorade. It depends on what we have in our little stock. The members come in and stuff the bags and we deliver them to the field house or their practice the day before their away games."

Monday afternoon, Sessions along with Diamond Doll president Madison Stallworth and member Twan Rudolph delivered goodie bags to softball and baseball practices. They were greeted with warm welcomes. Sessions said it's one small gesture, but it's something the players appreciate.

"The players look forward to it. They've told us how much they appreciate it. We look forward to continuing this tradition and hopefully continue to grow. "

The Diamond Dolls also have plans for other events.

"Right now, we're working on something special with other organizations on campus" Sessions said. "I can't say what it is yet, but it will involve both the baseball and softball programs, our students and the public. We'll announce plans real soon."
