They ended the season as state champions. Now, THEY'RE BACK!!!
This week, the Wallace Gov baseball returned to campus. The team started fall practice with a few light workouts as they prepare to defend their title.
The pitchers went through a few running drills in the over 90-degree heat. That's because they've got to get use to the heat during their fall season when it will still be hot. The position players mostly went through hitting drills in the cages. All players went through a light weightlifting session. They will hit the field later this week. The team has its first scrimmage scheduled for later this week.
The Govs have 31 players on their fall roster. 15 of them are sophomores and 16 are freshmen. There are 16 pitchers on the staff—nine freshmen and seven sophomores. Eight of the players are from the area. There are three players from Dothan, one from Headland, one from Cottonwood, one from Ozark, one from Opelika, and one from Donalsonville.
The Govs have 28 different games scheduled for the fall at 14 different events. The first games are scheduled for Thursday September 4
th at the Troy University Tournament. Only three of the events will be played in Dothan. The first is a doubleheader against Chipola on September 12
th.
