DOTHAN, Ala. - The Wallace Governors Men's Golf team is tied for 9th at the Wallace Kickoff Classic being held at Highland Oaks on September 8-9.

Following a hiatus from sponsoring a golf team, Wallace Community College kicked off the 2025 fall season with hosting 17 teams on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Highland Oaks on Monday. Teams from the Alabama Community College Conference plus Andrew College from Cuthbert, Georgia, and Eastern Florida State from Melbourne, Florida, participated in the first round of the Wallace Kickoff Classic.
Following the first day, Central Alabama Community College leads the field, shooting three over in the team competition. Jamie Smith, from current second place Eastern Florida, leads all golfers with a round of 65. Smith knocked in ten birdies on the 72 par course to head the field at seven under.
After the first round,
Cooper Weeks, a freshman from Headland High School, leads the Governors after shooting 77 (+5).
Play resumes this morning for the final round of the fall's first golf tournament.
