GREENVILLE, Ala. – The Wallace Govs men's golf team wrapped up play at the LBW Invitational in third place on Tuesday afternoon. The team finished the tournament held at Cambrian Ridge at 39-over-par, 20 strokes behind the team winner, Shelton State.
Following the first round of play on Monday, the Govs were sitting atop the team standings at six-over-par.
Wallace's Grayson Lozano, along with Shelton State's Michael Brewer, led all golfers at five-under following the first day of play. After making par on the 1st hole and a bogey on the 2nd, Lozano made birdie on seven of the next nine holes. He finished the round by making par on six of the next seven holes.
Alex Broadaway also finished strong on day one to sit in a tie for third with 18 holes to play. Broadaway's eagle on the par-five 16^th hole helped him overcome a pair of bogeys and a double bogey earlier in the round to finish at two-under.
The Govs battled themselves and windy conditions on the second day and struggled to match the success from day one. The team finished 33 over par on day two to finish the tournament in third place behind Shelton State and Jefferson State.
Despite shooting six-over on day two, Lozano finished tied for third place at one-over to earn All-Tournament team honors.
Alex Broadaway shot 80 on day two to finish the tournament at six-over and tied for 11^th place.
The team will take a week off before competing in their final tournament of the season on November 3-4. The Govs will travel to Jasper, Alabama to compete in the Jefferson State Invitational at the Musgrove Country Club.
