In their final meet of the regular season, the men's and women's cross country teams posted nine personal-best scores in preparation for the ACCC D2 Championships on October 24.

Both teams participated in the Warhawk Invitational hosted by Calhoun Community College on Thursday, October 9.

Each team posted their best time of the season at the meet held at the Oakville Indian Mounds Park in Danville.

"Today was a big step for our team and program at the Warhawk Invitational," said Wallace head cross country coach
Ryan Slaymaker.

"The group is rounding into form for the upcoming ACCC Championship Race on October 24."

The men's team finished with a total of 2:56:54 in the eight kilometer race. The Running Govs were led by
Eric Baker with a time of 31:12.4 followed by
Kenon Douglas with a time of 31:23.2. Douglas,
Malachi Bell (34:10.5),
Bryce Morgan (37:30.3), and Jarell Woods (42:38.1) posted personal bests.

The Lady Govs posted a 5K time of 2:43:30 to beat their best team score by over three minutes.
Teagan Slinker finished the race with a time of 28:40.3 for her best time of the season. Slinker's teammates also finished with their best times of the season:
LaTerria Adams (31:24.3);
Marissa Bollon (33:29.3);
Emma Johnson (34:18.80; and
Star Citlahua (35:42.3).

The Running Govs will travel to John Hunt Park in Huntsville on October 24 for the ACCC D2 Cross Country Championships.
