The Wallace Lady Govs finally got a chance to show what they have learned this fall under new head softball coach David Dews. Last Friday, the Lady Govs hit the road to take on Columbus State in their first true game of the fall. It was an experience the players enjoyed.
Â
While working out Wednesday morning, sophomore
Reagan Tomlin of Ariton said "It was a nice experience because we have such a small team. Â We're not able to go head-to-head against each other like a real game. So it was good to see a full team and some competition. We got to see how our players work together and how our offense and defense was going."
Â
Tomlin said she could definitely see how everything Coach Dews has been teaching the team came into play.
Â
"We weren't able to put all the defense in, but what we knew really came into play. We did really good with what he's taught us so far."
Â
Tomlin said playing on the road last week against Columbus State gave the Lady Govs some much needed experience as they hit the road again Thursday to take on Spring Hill College.
Â
"We know what we need to be working on. We've been working on mainly offensive stuff and putting in the rest of the defensive stuff. Once we put everything in, it's going to be a whole lot better. We'll be a more complete and full team."
