Nicole Dutton was named the Head Softball Coach at Wallace Community College, bringing more than a decade of coaching experience and a strong background in player development, athletic administration, and education to the Governors program.
Dutton spent 10 years as the Head Softball Coach at Dale County High School in Midland City, Alabama, from 2016 to 2026, while also serving as the school's Athletic Director from 2018 to 2026. During her tenure, Dutton led the Warriors to three state tournament appearances in 2016, 2019, and 2022, as well as eight regional tournament appearances in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, 2025, and 2026. She also helped develop numerous student-athletes who went on to sign and continue their softball careers at the collegiate level.
Dutton's success was recognized early in her tenure at Dale County, as she was named the 2016 Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) 3A State Coach of the Year. In addition to her coaching responsibilities, she taught Physical Education and Strength and Conditioning and fulfilled the duties associated with serving as Athletic Director.
Prior to taking over the Dale County program, Dutton served as an Assistant Softball Coach at Dothan High School from 2012 to 2015. As the pitching and catching coach, she worked closely with athletes in two of the game's most specialized positions while assisting with all aspects of the softball program. During her time at Dothan High School, she also coached the Cross Country team, helping lead both the boys' and girls' programs to state appearances.
Dutton has also spent nearly a decade working as a private softball instructor, providing individualized pitching, catching, and hitting instruction from 2010 to 2019. Through her private instruction, she helped develop multiple athletes who went on to sign with colleges, particularly in the pitching and catching positions.
A Dothan native and graduate of Dothan High School, Dutton graduated with honors in 2007 after playing five years of varsity softball. She continued her playing career at Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Florida, where she earned an Associate of Arts degree and played softball for two seasons. During her time at Gulf Coast, Dutton was part of the program's 2009 National Tournament team.
Dutton continued her education and playing career at the University of Mobile in Mobile, Alabama, where she played softball for two seasons and earned a bachelor's degree in Human Performance and Exercise Science in 2011. She also holds a K-12 teaching certification in Physical Education.
With extensive experience as a coach, instructor, educator, and athletic administrator, Dutton brings a comprehensive approach to developing student-athletes both on and off the field. Her background in player development and specialized instruction, combined with her experience leading successful high school programs, provides a strong foundation as she begins her tenure leading Wallace Community College Softball.
